Of tapering cylindrical form with moulded spreading base, the lower part of the body applied with an unusual narrow band of chain link design and with a further plain band near the rim. The fine "S" scroll cast handle with shield-shaped terminal at the bottom and the sides with plain wires rising up to form reeded branches terminating in triple leaf motifs, either side of a graduated bud rattail.
The underside of the base inscribed " I was wrought for Jack by command of Dorothy, his wife, November 15th, 1932"

Rather like Candlesticks it is curious that Ramsden made so few mugs. It would seem he had a preference for beakers or wine cups as numerous examples of those have appeared on the market. Apart from the good weight the handle is a very stylish piece of design and craftsmanship.
