The earliest medicine spoon is one of 1698 now in the Burrell Collection, Glasgow but it wasn't until the beginning of Queen Victoria's reign that this popular form of double ended spoon appeared. They were sometimes found in travelling dressing sets and with elaborate scrolled engraving. However, this is the only gold one we have ever seen and would make a perfect present for a newly qualified doctor.
