We specialize in preparing very detailed valuations for insurance, probate or family division. Some, by their very nature, may be complex, other can include extreme rarities but having valued silver of all categories for over 35 years we are well placed to assess large and varied collections or just individual pieces. As a result we have undertaken valuations for Livery Companies, army regiments, cathedrals and churches, museums, various institutions and of course, many private collections.
Our fees are based on an hourly rate with a minimum charge of £200 + VAT.
We are fortunate to have one of the best restorers in the United Kingdom to enable us to undertake practically every type of repair. This includes removing dents, repairing holes and splits, re-loading filled candlesticks, re-gilding, professional cleaning, re-enamelling either small chips or complete surfaces, new wooden handles and finials to tea and coffee pots, restoring waste disposal casualties and re-plating. We particularly take pride in the sympathetic restoration of early silver from the 16th-18th centuries.
We can supply glass liners or bowls in many colours, specially fitted cases in leather or synthetic materials, wooden canteens with or without brass mounts, tarnish proof bags and display stands.
